Will the Real John McCain Stand Up?

Some Republicans think John McCain is too liberal. Many refer to him as a maverick. And then to some, they think he is a creation of the media. One thing is for sure. The media does like to run to him for quotes with expectations of getting a juicy quote criticizing the President. And why not, since this seems to be in vogue these days?

McCain, at times, almost seems too happy to comply. The Bush v. McCain primary for the 2000 Reublican nominee, and its contentiousness, is well documented. So how come then, he has become one of his biggest campaign supporters recently and also one of the keynote speakers at the GOP convention?

Does he have 2008 on his mind ?
