'China's widening income gap threatening social stability', says government.
China's rapidly widening income gap has reached dangerous levels, risking social instability by 2010 if the present trend continues, a government report warns.

"China's growing income gap is likely to trigger social instability after 2010 if the government finds no effective solutions to end the disparity," the Ministry of Labour and Social Security warned in the China Daily.

Su Hainan, president of the ministry's income research institute, found income disparity in China had reached the crucial "yellow" stage -- the second most serious in a scale of four defined by the institute.

The situation would deteriorate to the most dangerous "red" stage in 2010 if no effective measures were taken within the next five years, he said.

Violent protests and riots have become common among Chinese frustrated by soaring social inequality, massive corruption and illegal land requisitions, sparking government fears of triggering mass-scale social instability.

Widening income gap? Soaring social inequality? Massive corruption? Illegal land requisitons? This sounds like the American left describing the U.S.

What the hell? How can this be? I thought China was a communist country. Yo, euphorians..I thought communism was THE panacea. Could it be you're wrong?

  • No, no no; you mean-spirited right wing ideologues have tried that argument before when every other historical attempt at Communism has failed. It is not Communism that is at fault for it's repeated failures; it is just faulty execution. Whenever someone does it right, (oops, I mean correctly), it will work fine, just you wait and see.

  • Still waiting..waiting...waiting... Also, I have to beg to differ, because I am not really mean-spirited, it's just that (and it's not my fault) my knuckles drag on the floor, and makes me somewhat irritable, and the left then perceives me to be some angry white man. Where's the compassion and understanding?

  • Well of course it is not your fault; nothing is. As I have explained before, the Liberal mindset is that we are individually responsible for nothing, but collectively to blame for everything. Therefore, the problem is not yours but ours; the human species have legs that are too short, (or perhaps arms that are too long, because there are no absolutes you know), resulting in the knuckle dragging that accounts for your irritability. So it is quite understandable that you are irritable and Liberals compassionately feel your pain.

Still, that only explains your mean-spiritedness, it does not obviate it. How do Liberals handle this tragedy of the human condition? Natural Selection!

You see, they have evolved to have shorter arms and longer legs. (Clearly, if there were such a thing as Intelligent Design this condition would never have been allowed in the first place.)

This eliminates the knuckle dragging and the resulting irritability. It also makes it difficult for them to reach down into their own pockets and accounts for their propensity to reach down into yours. It is all becoming clear to me now

  • You are a gem!

But have they really evolved? If their arms are shorter and their legs are now longer, well that sounds a little prehistoric, doesn't it? Kind a like a T-Rex?

Sounds to me like they are in a regressive state.

As far as intelligent design. ..huh.. it makes no sense at all. After all a big bang of something ...gas... rock.. who knows, something that was not living, that came from somewhere, who knows where from, exploding and making some kind of living microscopic thing.. which means I came from a rock or something... makes so much more sense. And they have proof of this happening. (Don't they?)

I like the your insight into why they come after my money, but alas I fear President Bush has learned this art all too well.

  • T-Rex?, what an excellent point. If you follow these things you may know that the reputation T-Rex had as an horrific predator was most likely undeserved. It now seems much more likely that, with its short ineffectual little arms, it was an opportunistic scavenger living off of the fruits of others labors. Those short little arms could also explain their obsession with being unable to reach out sufficiently to others.

Perhaps it is we who have evolved. After all, evolution does require a genetic mutation that provides its carrier with a some sort of survival advantage and Liberals seem ill-suited toward that end. It may not necessarily be anything to do directly with arm length relative to leg length as it is a general awareness that survival is of the fittest, not the most caring.

Also, I agree with your point re President Bush's artfull fingers.

  • Yes. I see you are coming to see my line of thinking. It does appear now that the T-Rex may have been a scavenger - a LARGE scavenger. There are some parallels here.

Heh, heh. The short arms explaining their inability to "sufficiently reach out" despite their obsession to try to do so is a good analogy that had escaped me.

Then, too, are they not aware of their short arms? If they are; are they not also aware from the onset that "their" attempts to do so will fail because of this limitation?

That would mean that this "attempt" to "reach out" was artfully dishonest from the get-go. A ploy. An insincere political ploy to try and convince us that they are here to "help us."

They wouldn't resort to these kind of tactics, would they?

By Blogger HeavyHanded, at 12:38 PM

  • As in 'We are from the government and we are here to help'? Oh yeah, they would resort to that if they had any other tricks to resort to it from.

More likely, though, they are unaware of their length challenged arms and, as a consequence of their short-sightedness, they just presume it to be a foreshortening optical illusion.
