John Edwards Polishing His Resume

The former senator, still considered a likely candidate for president in 2008 by many, took a trip to Iowa and was downplaying the departure of three unions from the AFL-CIO by saying the 2006 campaigns won't be affected by the split.

Edwards seems to be using his time wisely by trying to improve his foreign policy resume. In June he traveled to Great Britain and met with Prime Minister Tony Blair and members of Parliament, with further polishing to take place when he travels to Russia in September with the Council on Foreign Relations, a task force on U.S.-Russia relations. He serves as co-chairman of the task force.
