Public School as Sex Surveyor

By Janet Parshall

The Ninth Circuit recently handed down yet another stunningly bad decision. This time the case involved six parents who sued the Palmdale, California school district after children in the first, third and fifth grades were given a sexually-charged survey.

The survey asked children how often they thought about having sex or how frequently they wanted to touch someone else's body parts.

But the Ninth circuit ruled against the parents, saying in effect parents have no fundamental right "to be the exclusive provider of information regarding sexual matters for their children." It also said parents have no right to dispute whatever the public schools choose to teach in sex education.

The Ninth Circuit is wrong again. Schools are funded by tax-paying parents who do have the last word when it comes to their children. It doesn't take a village to raise a children--it takes a family.
