A US military helicopter has crashed in Iraq, killing both pilots, apparently being hit by hostile fire.
The crash happened near Mosul, north of Baghdad. It was the second such incident in Iraq in less than a week.
Gen Vines said such violence was being conducted by insurgents other than Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's al-Qaeda in Iraq, which he said was now "in disarray".
Gen Vines said many members of al-Qaeda in Iraq had been killed or captured in recent months during US offensives in the Euphrates valley and along Iraq's western border with Syria. Full article.
