Neutering the Net

Why Microsoft, Amazon, and other charitable organizations want to regulate the Internet into prosperity.
Is there any debate that gets things more fundamentally ass-backwards than the current battle over "net neutrality"? The sort of preemptive regulation at the heart of proposed legislation rarely works out well, especially in fields where technological change is the rule and not the exception.

  • Great article, HeavyHanded. Really touches on the key points of the debate, which is rare in this time of Chicken Little-isms and overhyped concerns.

    This really comes down to allowing the free market to work and letting the consumers be in charge rather than a Washington bureaucracy. Hence the name behind my coalition--"Hands Off The Internet". We really want just that--to keep the hands of the federal government out of one of the fastest-growing and most exciting technologies out there.
