U.S. must do more to denuclearize N. Korea
With only hours to go until the deadline for North Korea to open its nuclear facilities to international inspectors, the research group Atlantic Council called for U.S. bilateral involvement as well as maintaining the current multilateral approach.
In addition, the council stressed that China must be a U.S. partner in any talks with Pyongyang.
'Parallel negotiations on critical political, military and economic issues will enable diplomats to also pursue nuclear disarmament,' Frederick Kempe, the council's chief executive, said in launching the study.
Regarding China, Kempe said that 'the most important thing is finding a way to work with China in a comprehensive way,' adding that 'it's an important process not just vis-à-vis our relations with North Korea, but also vis-à-vis our relations with China.' " Read on...
