In the last Republican debate John McCain was given a scenario whereby a fourth set of suicide bombers was captured off the coast of Florida after successful missions were carried out in three U.S. shopping centers by fellow jihadists, killing hundreds and injuring thousands, but before this 4th group could put their plan into action, and with U. S. intelligence believing that another larger attack was in the works and could come at anytime. He was asked how aggressively we should interrogate these prisoners.
While answering the question, part of his response was: "The use of torture -- we could never gain as much we would gain from that torture as we lose in world opinion."
Dr. Jack Wheeler correctly states that it sounds like John McCain would rather have countless Americans die in a terrorist attack than have people in foreign countries not like us.
Further, Dr. Wheeler observes:
"..... pathological caring for what others think, especially in a foreign policy/national security context, what non-Americans in foreign countries think of America, is the core psychological mind-set of what makes a liberal a liberal."
