McCain finally found religion in his principled support for the Iraq conflict.
Unfortunately for him (and possibly, for us) his earlier "scorched earth" policies (i.e., gang of 14 SCOTUS, McCain Feingold) built around his sense of self-importance burned too many bridges beyond repair.
