The obvious answer as to why it's not 'news' is that it's a Democrat staffer.
However, I'm inclined to agree on this one...it's a slippery slope to automatically hold the employer responsible for the behavior of the employee without fully investigating first.
With that being said, if there is any evidence of consent or knowledge on the part of the Senator, or if a pattern of behavior emerges, that's a different story...
