U.S., Iraq headed for 'long-term strategic' alliance

WASHINGTON -- Iraq and the United States are mapping out bilateral ties stemming from their defense relationship. "We are transitioning from crisis mode, from dealing with day-to-day battlefield decisions, to a long-term strategic relationship." Defense Department spokesman Geoff Morrell said.
