Racists endorse Barack on 'MyObama' website

New Black Panther Party condemns 'white men,' Jews, praises candidate

Just as Sen. Barack Obama sought to distance himself from controversial racial remarks made by his pastor, an anti-American government, anti-white and virally anti-Semitic black supremacist party has endorsed the presidential candidate on Obama's own website.

"Obama will stir the 'Melting Pot' into a better 'Molten America,'" states an endorsement from the New Black Panther Party, or NBPP, which is..... (read more)

  • One of the other writer's on Highbrid Nation did a nice post talking about the Black Panthers endorsing Barack and what this means in light of the Rev. Wright controversy. Honestly I'm feeling like the panthers are doing Barack a disservice for even making such and anouncement. Between Rev. Wright and the Panthers I'm starting to feel like black people may be responsible for Barack not getting elected when it's all said and done.

  • It certainly is not helping his cause at all from my perspective anyway.

I just don't see how this helps him.

  • ‘Manipulative and devious’
    By Dick Vander Woude

When a citizen seeks election and wins a place in government, from city council to President of the United States, he or she becomes, by definition, a politician.

Public service is fundamental to the maintenance and perpetuation of our democracy. Sadly, today the word “politician” has two commonly applied definitions (according to my computer’s dictionary). The first reads, “A person who is professionally involved in politics.” The second is, “A person who acts in a manipulative and devious way, typically to gain advancement.” Apparently one can choose to be either or both.

In Reverend Wright’s interview with Bill Moyers, which aired April 25 on Moyers’s PBS program, the reverend described his own profession as that of minister and he contrasted that to Senator Obama’s profession of politician. It could not have been clearer that in using the descriptive term “politician” he was defining Senator Obama’s calling or occupation. See definition number one in the above paragraph.

Yet news reporters and news commentators repeatedly choose to “hear” the second definition and immediately began to express opinions and ask questions, based on the “manipulative and devious” definition. In doing so they were and are willfully diminishing and denigrating the Reverend Wright and Senator Obama. I expect this from the likes of Pat Buchanan, an effective spokesperson for the right, or Rachel Maddow on the left (my personal favorite).

But it was disappointing and depressing when honored and respected broadcast journalist Andrea Mitchell did it on NBC. She just threw a large bucket of cold water on my “HOPE” for this nation’s media professionals. If we can not trust journalists such as Mitchell to not “spin” for the Clintons, we are in trouble.

Let me confess that I enjoy most cable news (FOX not included). I like the upfront and honest style of positioning conservatives opposite liberals with a mix of neutrals. However, when presumed neutrals like Mitchell switch the intent of a single word, resulting in a more favorable view of one candidate over another what are we left with?
