(CNSNews.com) – The battle over allowing offshore drilling on the U.S. Outer Continental Shelf has now shifted to the U.S. Senate. Senators Chuck Schumer-(D-N.Y.) and Pattie Murray (D-Wash.) told CNSNews.com on Thursday that they have not yet decided whether oil drilling ought to be allowed within 50 miles of U.S. shores. Conservative Senate Republicans, however, told CNSNews.com that if the energy package that passed the House on Tuesday, which would permanently ban all oil drilling within 50 miles of the U.S. coast, comes to the Senate floor, they will do everything they can to block its passage.
