Liberalism's Basic Instinct

By Michael Medved

Senator Charles Schumer doesn't like conservative talk radio and compares it to pornography, saying government must control both. He doesn't acknowledge that framers of the First Amendment clearly intended to block government control of political speech, but expressed no desire to protect porn.

Oddly, Schumer wants to control what other people say, instead of just answering and correcting them. He gets many outlets for his views, but beyond managing his own mouth, he also wants to silence mine.

The conservative basic instinct seeks less interference, less bureaucratic control over our lives. Left wingers' basic instinct demands more interference, more control over the lives of their neighbors. On health care, education, retirement, spending the money we earn, transportation, and what radio shows to choose, we trust the people to make the best decisions. Liberals trust only themselves to make decisions for everyone else.

  • The left-wing illuminati are going to allow the government to control so much, and now people want them to control our right to freedom of speech, what else is next?

  • Limiting free speech, having a civilian security force, and sharing the wealth, are not American ideals.

They sound like (and I hate to say it) communist ideals.
