Obama's Pledge to Not Drill for Oil

By Hugh Hewitt

This past weekend spokesmen for President-elect Obama announced that among his first actions after being sworn in will be the revocations of permissions previously granted to drill for oil on some public lands.

This is a very bad way to launch a new administration. Oil is at or around the $60-a-barrel level today, but only a few short months ago it was above $140 a barrel, and when the worldwide recession ends, worldwide demand will heat up again.

Right now we have a window to push for new supplies to slow the rise of oil again, but we cannot do that if the first thing a new president does is shut down critical parts of the search for new oil resources.

Urge the president-elect to explore--not shutter exploration.
