(CNSNews.com) - CIA officers involved in a terrorist interrogation program that had been reviewed by the Justice Department, authorized by agency superiors, approved by top administration officials and repeatedly briefed to leaders of the House and Senate intelligence committees nonetheless feared that the U.S. government would not “stand behind them” if they were later targeted for legal action because of the tough techniques used in the program, according to a report by the CIA’s Office of Inspector General.
