NANNY STATE

Attacking capitalism again. What a dirty word. HeavyHanded has potty mouth. Capitalism. There I said it again.

From the Federalist Patriot:

"California once again takes the lead in nanny state regulations and warnings, diluting common sense ever further. For years, California residents, sometimes by their own doing at the polls, have been subject to warnings in office buildings, garages, gas stations, department stores and grocery stores, pertaining to everyday items such as gasoline, alcohol, fruits and vegetables, nuts and fish for all manner of "dangers" related to these items.

Now, California Attorney General Bill Lockyer has filed suit against a number of fast-food chains and junk-food producers because their fries and potato chips contain trace amounts of acrylamide (sounds dangerous, doesn't it?)—and he wants warning labels! Never mind the fact that acrylamide is a chemical found in asparagus and olives and is a natural byproduct of cooking certain starchy foods. Already, consumers see so many warning signs they don't take them seriously. But here we go again..."
