Hype, Hypocrisy and Accountability
By Gerard Valentino
The establishment media have spent the last five days placing blame for the human tragedy taking place in New Orleans. What the talking heads on network and cable news refuse to admit is that they are partially to blame…

America As a Third World Nation
By Alan Caruba
The haunting images of New Orleans were those of a Third World nation unable to cope with a natural disaster. The overriding question in the first days following the hurricane was, “What is the government doing?” The government’s response to the disaster suggests that there are, indeed, limits to what it can do. We all need to rely less on the “government,” but it seems unlikely at this point that the government will allow that to happen…

Los Angeles' Thwarted Terror Spree
By Daniel Pipes
The Jewish high holidays this year fall in early October, and that's when a massacre was planned against two Los Angeles synagogues, as well as other targets, according to an indictment just handed down against four young Muslim men. Terrorist plans that fail don't make headlines, but they should. Even though most Jews resist acknowledging it, the Muslim threat is changing Jewish life in the United States. The golden age of American Jewry is coming to an end...

  • John Roberts’ Critics Outraged All Over Again

Just because he won the election he thinks he can appoint someone whom he agrees with and respects? How dare he! Outrageous!

Sen. Clinton Demands a ‘Katrina Commission’

Hmmm…Methinks there may be many Democrats in the State of Louisiana and the city of New Orleans who don’t think that is very good idea. Of course her hubby inflicted huge pain and lose on that party and they still revere him

Abortion Issue Focus of Dem Bid to Oust Santorum

Interesting phraseology here; ‘their best shot at unseating Republican U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum …’, not ‘their best reason for unseating Republican U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum …’ It is not why but who is in power that concerns them.

  • Good points all, like usual, anotmo.
    1. "Advise and consent" has been spun into meaning - "We'll tell you whom to appoint and then we will confirm them."

This is the "new bipartisan" we are seeking on Capitol Hill. And it will certainly "unite" this fractured country. After all, we need a "uniter, not a divider".

Me thinks I am going to throw up now.

    2. I am so sick of the blame game that the left and the media (same thing isn't it?)has been participating in for the last 4 1/2 years, I wanna' puke.

There is enough blame to spread around on the Katrina disaster, and the Dems would be better off "letting the sleeping dog lie."

    3. Interesting analysis of their phraseology, anotmo. As we both know, the Dems are bankrupt when it comes to reason; thus they look at everything from a standpoint of political gain.

  • Yes, or maybe ‘you must consent to take our advise’ Brings up some other interesting Democrat interpretations of our governing culture, Let’s see:

    a. Checks and Balances…The losing party checks to see if the winning party’s governing decisions reflect the same balance as the popular vote, electoral vote, latest polls,…, ( pick one that suits the losing party’s immediate purposes), and ,if not, the losing party gets to complain, cry foul, stomp their feet and just get ever so mad.

    b. Separation of Powers…The intolerable state of affairs whereby Republicans have somehow cheated and separated Democrats from their rightful positions of power
    c. Separation of Church and State…a one way separation whereby religion is banned from government but government is not banned from religion. A sort of semi-permeable wall of separation

    d. Judicial Activism…the act of negating past liberal judicial activist decisions, (a relatively new one from Alan Dershowitz which cleverly seeks to reapply the negative connotations that append to liberal actions onto conservatives by reversing the meaning of the phrase used to describe liberal actions.)

    e. Bush Lied…An axiom for which no proof is required; repetition is sufficient.

    f. Negative Campaigning…True statements made by Republicans which reflect poorly on Democrats

    g. Politics of Personal Destruction…True statements made by Republicans which reflect poorly on a Democrat

    h. Partisan…Republican political policy

    i. Non-Partisan…Republicans advocating Democrat political policies.
