Syria agrees to hide Iran nukes

I have often wondered if Iraq's WMD's made it over the border to Syria. We all know Senator Rockefeller went over to Syria one year before we went into Iraq, and he told President Bashar al-Asad that he was sure Bush had decided to go into Iraq; thus giving Saddam plenty of time to move things into Syria. Now comes this story from the World Tribune:
LONDON — Syria has signed a pledge to store Iranian nuclear weapons and missiles.

The London-based Jane's Defence Weekly reported that Iran and Syria signed a strategic accord meant to protect either country from international pressure regarding their weapons programs. The magazine, citing diplomatic sources, said Syria agreed to store Iranian materials and weapons should Teheran come under United Nations sanctions.

It provides us with some interesting conjectures, no?

Then we have this story:
Former IDF Chief-of-Staff Lt.-Gen. Moshe Ya’alon said in an interview with the New York Sun on Thursday that Iraq moved its chemical weapons to Syria six weeks before the war started.

[snip]

Ya’alon, who was IDF Chief of Staff from July 2002 to June 2005, speculated, however, in April 2004 that Iraq transferred its weapons “to another country, such as Syria.”

[snip]

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has also contended that Iraq’s WMD were transferred from Iraq to Syria before the war. In December 2002, Sharon told Israel's Channel 2 Television that “chemical and biological weapons which Saddam is endeavoring to conceal have been moved from Iraq to Syria."

And we shouldn't forget this story:
UN inspectors: Saddam shipped out WMD before war and after

SPECIAL TO WORLD TRIBUNE.COM
Friday, June 11, 2004

The United Nations has determined that Saddam Hussein shipped weapons of mass destruction components as well as medium-range ballistic missiles before, during and after the U.S.-led war against Iraq in 2003.

The UN Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission briefed the Security Council on new findings that could help trace the whereabouts of Saddam's missile and WMD program.

  • I seem to recall two brilliant political observers previously speculating as to this very scenario do I not? Congratulations to us H-H.

As the applause dies down, let me add that any fool with a brain in his head should have seen the viability of this explanation over the two alternatives necessary to accept the view held by those without a brain in their head, (i.e the MSM and the Democrats):

    1. That Saddam destroyed all of his WMD's but then unaccountably forfeited his entire empire, (and hopefully his life), rather than simply showing proof of having destroyed any, (presumably as a matter of principle?), or

    2. That Saddam, having demonstrated that he had WMD’s by using them, somehow manipulated time and events to retroactively alter history so that now he never had any WMD’s and Bush lied.

  • Yes anotmo, I, too, recall two astute political pundits speculating over this scenario.(Both hands simulutaneously patting my back.)

Either (1) or (2) is possible, but (2) perhaps more so because Bush lied.

Hey anotmo, drop me your email address if you don't mind at "heavyhanded at mindless dot com" because I have a question for you.
