It's over finally. I'm glad. Personal attacks by Democrat Senators trying to paint Alito as a racist, drove his wife to tears on Wednesday, forcing her to get up and leave the confirmation hearings for a brief period.
Mrs. Alito became teary eyed and emotional when South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham apologized for the slimy accusations to which her husband had been subjected.
"Judge Alito, I am sorry that you've had to go through this. I am sorry that your family has had to sit here and listen to this," Graham said.
Implying that the attacks on her husband caused her to get emotional, Senator Orrin Hatch said, "She's sick and tired of the mistreatment of her husband."
Shortly afterwards, having regained her composure, Mrs. Alito returned to the hearing room. The other sad part of the story is that the AP tried to paint the picture that it was the mean Senator Graham that caused Mrs. Alito to cry and the left wing bloggers ran with it.
