Health service waiting times 'conning public'

Another example of failed socialized health care. Just think, you get a guarantee (although apparently it's meaningless) that if you need to see a doctor, you get to see one within 6 months. How nice.

"In the previous three months, 20,000 people with a six-month guarantee failed to be treated within this time."

TENS of thousands of Scots are waiting longer than six months to be treated but never show up on official waiting list target figures, it was revealed yesterday.

Opposition parties claimed the Scottish public was being "conned" by the Executive which earlier this year said just two people were waiting longer than six months for treatment.

But new information released by the Executive shows the figure disguised the fact that in the previous three months, 20,000 people with a six-month guarantee failed to be treated within this time.

The statistics were revealed in a series of written answers to the Scottish Conservative health spokesman, Dr Nanette Milne. Dr Milne said there had been "a gross misrepresentation of facts" to pretend the Executive's guarantee had been met.
