Interpol says al-Qaeda preparing to engage in biological warfare
The International Criminal Police Organisation, or Interpol, believes changes need to be made fast.
This was its message at the Asian Bioterrorism Workshop held in Singapore on Monday.
Bioterrorism cannot be ignored.
Interpol says there is enough evidence to show al-Qaeda is preparing to engage in biological warfare.
It says the 11th volume of al-Qaeda's Encyclopedia of Jihad, for example, is devoted to chemical and biological weapons.
Captured terrorist suspects have also admitted that their organisations are plotting potential biological attacks.
Mr Ronald Noble, Interpol's Secretary-General, says: "It can't be that we as a world community has to wait for a September 11 type of attack in bioterrorism before we prepare.
