John Edwards, Democrat, presidential candidate

From beliefnet.com

"John Edwards, former senator from North Carolina and John Kerry's former running mate, has his eyes on the White House. His is not a long shot bid. Though far more under the radar than his two more popular rivals, Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. Hillary Clinton, his is a serious effort backed with ample money and tireless campaigning. He sat down with Beliefnet's Washington editor, David Kuo, to do something he hasn't done before--talk openly and in depth about his religious faith."

In this interview he was asked what parts of American life did he think would most outrage Jesus.

His response?

"Our selfishness. Our resort to war when it's not necessary. I think that Jesus would be disappointed in our ignoring the plight of those around us who are suffering and our focus on our own selfish short-term needs. I think he would be appalled, actually."

Just in case you missed this story, Edwards Home County's Largest: The 28,200-square-foot home also Orange County's most valuable. (Photo here.)

Mr. Edwards sir, you are a puke. You and your caterwauling about two Americas. Lecturing us on selfishness and our own selfish short-term needs. You are, sir, a brainless twit.

  • Our selfishness? Americans contribute more of their money to more peoples of the world than any other country in history. Perhaps Edwards just counts the money that our government takes from us and then gives away and not the enormous amount of personal non-government charity Americans provide. More likely, Edwards is just reflecting the general low regard of the Left for the character of the American people and does not feel compelled to trouble himself with facts nor figures.

What would the Lefts reaction be if President Bush presummed to speak for Jesus?

  • Good point anotmo. The left would be having fits if Bush said something of this nature and would be skewered for having 'presumed' to be speaking for Jesus.

Not to mention the astounding hypocrisy of him saying we are ignoring the plight of those around us who are suffering and concentrating on our own selfish interests.

How can this man say this with a straight face?

On second thought: If you live far away from people and isolate yourself and they can't see you, and you not them, is there suffering around you?

If a tree falls in a forest and there is no one there to hear it ....
