Feed The Children
I have just made a contribution to them. They are seeking donations for the California fire victims.
Can you help out? If so go here.

We have food here in San Diego, logistics of everybody getting a hot meal has been touch and go with 500,000 evacuated. Qualcomm early on did not have enough refrigeration for perishables. Volunteers have been running back and forth doing everything humanly possible.
How we got in this situation is that the natural brush grows and dies; when fire hits this stuff the heat of the flames throws embers into the air. Wind carries this to a new spots. The only way to fight is to draw a line, make a fire break and stomp out the small fires that jump the line. This heroic effort has saved countless homes.
As I write this only 1200 homes have been lost. I don't mean to minimize this, because these people have lost everything. But we don't have 500,000 without homes.
Your prays have been answered the wind instead of shifting rapidly from east to west nearly stopped for several days. As I write this, while listening to the radio, what has spooked people is smoke near alpine. The smoke is an intentional burn to remove fuel. There are miles smoldering embers, when wind hits these they can start burning again, and the way the fire has burned there is still a lot that can still burn. They are trying to save Alpine and Julian, I believe they will. This weekend will likely have wind and a chance for rain.
Julian, is a wonderful place, full of apple plantations. When these are harvested they have all kinds of wonderful food and smells it is heavenly. My kids love this place nearly as much as Disneyland.
What is the most frustrating is that many people have been prevented from removing brush by the environmentalist for many years.
We will get through this, with any luck people can start going home this weekend.
