The Truth about Gas Prices

"It is the good fortune of pandering politicians that Americans don’t even bother with the notions of wants and needs anymore. They simply insist that whatever they happen to want is a “right.”

The idea of taking the Metro to work instead of driving, or not taking their annual summer vacation, is not an acceptable alternative for Americans addicted to the good life. By golly, “cheap gas” (as subjectively defined) is a right, because … well, shucks … because politicians say it is.

When the history of Western civilization is written, it will be clear to all that it was not Islamic terrorism that destroyed it. The culprit will be the perverse, widespread belief that people have a right to anything they happen to desire."
