9/11 and the Continuing Threat

By David Aikman

In the seven years since the catastrophe of 9/11, the U.S. has been, by God's grace, spared any repeat action. But it has been because of the vigilance of American and allied forces protecting us--not because al Qaeda has become lazy.

In fact, the most vulnerable parts of the world to Islamist terrorism are now in Europe. Innumerable terrorist plots have been uncovered in Britain, Germany and France since 9/11 and a new wave of al Qaeda recruits, born and raised in Britain, seems to be flocking to bases in Pakistan, either to join the Taliban in Afghanistan or to destroy their own society at home.

Until this Islamist extremist madness is finally repudiated by mainstream Muslims, the threat to civilization from terrorists will remain.
