Muslim clergy say U.S. poisons mushrooms

"Kyrgyz Muslim leaders joined forces with Uzbek clergy inciting villagers against U.S. military presence by claiming mushrooms known as Blue Stems have been contaminated by the U.S. Air Force.

Hundreds of villagers demonstrated in a number of locations following massive cases of poisoning including deaths. The explanation given by the agitators is that U.S. cargo planes dump jet fuel while landing with sensitive cargos, including ammunition.

The clergy claim the jet fuel turned the usually benign delicacy into a deadly food, demanding the withdrawal of U.S. bases from Central Asia."
