On the Culture Front.....Do Morals Matter ?

"The Democrats have a number of excuses to explain their steadily loosening grip on the electorate on a national scale: The Republicans have brainwashed voters, the war has skewed the voters' sense of reality, and the voters are just plain dumb. Well, as it turns out, the truth is more colorful than that. A series of focus groups run by Demo pollsters Stan Greenberg and Karl Agne show that cultural issues are driving many voters these days, and the Republicans perform much better in this area than Democrats.

The Demos want to believe that they have an advantage over Republicans with economic issues, dissatisfaction over the war and the direction in which the country is headed. However, these topics take a back seat to abortion, family values, religion and same-sex marriage for many voters. The Demos were labeled by focus group participants as "morally bankrupt" and "anti-religious." Focus groups may not necessarily be representative of the population in general, but we here in our humble editorial shop are nodding in agreement."
