(CNSNews.com) - Activists protesting the nomination and likely confirmation of Judge Samuel Alito to the U.S. Supreme Court said Friday that Alito is out of the mainstream and that his opponents "represent the values of the majority of Americans." Andrew Gillum, city commissioner of Tallahassee, Fla., told reporters at the U.S. Capitol that Alito is an "ideologue" who would "be the farthest right-speaking voice" on the court. He added that groups opposed to his confirmation are "consistent with the views of the majority of Americans."
A Washington Post-ABC News poll released Monday found that 53 percent of Americans support Alito's confirmation. Only 27 percent said the Senate should reject him. Full Story
