Israel to U.S.: Where to from here?
Israel, not happy with the Hamas election victory, says it will wait for the United States to formulate a policy on a Hamas takeover before they make a substantive response.
Both the U.S. and Israel were surprised at the Hamas victory. They expected them to win some seats, but not the majority that they did.
"Israel preferred to cave in to U.S. pressure," said former Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom. "The result is that Israel does not have a Palestinian partner. Israel is in a very difficult position."

I see this as the oposite. Palestine does not have an Isrealy partner. For some reason everyone sees this backwards.
Who has 40% unemployment?
Who can't produce enough food to survive?
Who has no Airport or Seaport?
Who has the military might to hold their own?
The Palestinians need Isreal far more then Isreal needs the Palestinians.

You're being far too logical. I cannot disagree with any of the points you made.
But more importantly, the Palestinians don't see it that way. They see themselves as surviving in a world without Israel. Right after the victorious Hamas elections, they announced the distruction of Israel.
Obviously, the Palestinians cannot do this on their own. Iran, with their pursuit of nukes, is the wild card here.
Iran has also announced the destruction of Israel as well that of the U.S. A new world order as they put it. A world without Zionism they claim.
Ironically, Syria and Iran have no real use for the Palestinians other than their joint pursuit of Israel's destruction.
Once accomplshed, they would serve little purpose to them. And more than likely you would still see the 40% unemployment and an unproductive society with little military might just as they are now as they have not shown to date, that they cannot improve their situation despite much cash being poured into their little corner of the world.
