Warrantless Politics

By Janet Parshall
Beyond the News

Democrats are anxious to reverse the majority in both the House and the Senate and are hoping that this year's mid-term elections will do just that.

One theory floating around the capital is that if a reversal did occur, one of the first moves by the Democrats would be an attempt to impeach the president. We got a clear indication of how likely that might be this past weekend. Appearing on ABC's "This Week with George Stephanopoulos," Senator Russ Feingold of Wisconsin called for the Senate to censure the president. The president's offense? The NSA terrorist surveillance program. Feingold believes the president circumnavigated the need for a court order to spy on Americans.

Senator Feingold has chosen to ignore the fact that President Clinton, like Bush, also used "warrantless wiretaps." Has he also forgotten there are terrorist cells living among us who daily wish us harm? Worse yet, his call for censure sends a signal to our enemies that we will look the other way as they plot our destruction.
