Ahmadinejad, Chavez Tighten Ties To Defeat 'Imperialism'

Jerusalem (CNSNews.com) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez vowed to defeat imperialism, a reference to the United States, when they met over the weekend in Tehran. "Cooperation of independent countries such as Iran and Venezuela has an effective role in defeating the policies of imperialism and saving nations," Chavez told his host. "The pills of the global arrogance have become shaky and victory [can] be achieved with resistance and standing firm," Ahmadinejad said. Ahmadinejad and Chavez both regularly launch scathing attacks against the U.S., though neither mentioned the U.S. by name. Chavez told Ahmedinejad that he wants to form an alliance of states to oppose U.S. policy, Reuters reported.
