Who is Obama Opposing?

Barack Obama has spent most of his time prior to the Republican convention, attacking Pres. Bush. Then once Gov. Palin was chosen as veep and introduced at the RNC, he has been attacking her.

Makes me wonder if he knows that neither Bush or Palin are at the top of the Republican ticket.
