House Okays ANWR Oil Drilling
May 25
"In a vote of 225 to 201, the House Thursday approved a bill that would open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) to oil drilling, the Associated Press reports. Supporters say drilling in ANWR would provide one million barrels a day of additional domestic oil, thus reducing dependence on foreign oil. "We need to develop energy, here at home. ... We can't say no to everything," AP quoted Rep. Richard Pombo (R-Calif.) as saying. The bill's detractors, meanwhile, say that drilling would harm the wildlife in ANWR and that Congress should look into alternative sources of energy. "There are simply some places that should be off limits to drilling. The Arctic refuge should be one of them," AP quoted Rep. Lois Capps (D-Calif.) as saying."

Well, they finally got one right. They vote down off-shore drilling so they had better fix the foreign oil problem in some fashion. I wrote about this on my blog a while back Find it here.
